San Francisco was founded by John Azzaro in 1913. Azzaro was described as a progressive businessman. He was born in Genoa, Italy, on April 16, 1890, and in 1905 came to San Francisco, where he worked and learned the flower business. In April 1913, he opened San Francisco Floral, located at 1201 J Street in Fresno. In 1925, he built a greenhouse and nursery at 5080 East Tulare Street where he grew cut flowers and plants. The family still operates the nursery and maintains the highest quality in plants and flowers.
