About
Fresno Adventist Academy, Fresno
In the fall of 1897, the Fresno Seventh-day Adventist School was started in two rooms at the rear of the SDA church building on the corner of Mariposa and “O” Streets with 25 students and 2 teachers. By 1902 the school boasted a full 8 grade curriculum. A new campus was built on seven acres at the corner of Fruit and Napa Avenues in 1906. Growth again motivated the board of trustees to seek a new location, and in 1917 George Driver donated five acres of land at 841 W. Belmont Avenue across the street from Roeding Park. In January 1919 the school was moved to Belmont Avenue and that was also when tenth grade was added to the school curriculum.
