About
Central Unified School District, Fresno
The Central Unified School District is the third largest district in Fresno County. With a total of 88 square miles located seven miles northwest of downtown Fresno, it is the result of an election in 1981 when constituents in seven small school districts voted to unify. The district now has a student population of approximately 12,000, an outstanding staff of over 1,200, and strong, consistent leadership. As one of the fastest growing districts in the state, Central Unified projects to open thirty new schools in the next twenty years. The district offers many outstanding academic, athletic, and extra-curricular opportunities for students, including schools that consistently perform above the county average in API results, three California Distinguished Schools and a nationally recognized FFA program.
