Cedarwood Elementary enters the 21st century "Poised for the Future ," with a commitment to the continued tradition of excellence begun by the Clovis Unified School District in 1962. Founded in 1996, Cedarwood Elementary adopted its name through its association with the Shaver Logging Flume, which ran forty-five miles from Shaver to downtown Clovis. The flume, constructed entirely of cedar wood, passed within a mile of the school construction site and provided a historical basis for the school name.
